April 8th, 2006. Kathmandu, Nepal. A rare sight. New Road in the capital is absolutely deserted. Soldiers and police patrol the virtually deserted streets of the city. The Maoists called for a general strike, the King and government called for a curfew to prevent any possible protests. Meanwhile the Nepali economy suffers as commerce and shops remain closed all day.
