Order: USADROUGHT01.JPG

Drought in Kansas - Aug 2002.

Fish skeletons bake in 100 degree plus Farenheight temperatures in what used to be a lake near Cawker City, Kansas. The drought is so bad in some areas of the Great Plains that farmers are comparing it to that of the 1930's. As crops begin to fail, the American government has declared many counties Federal Disaster Areas and is expecting to pay billions of dollars in emergency funds to areas where they have not seen any rain sinced early May.
