The Badlands of South Dakota

244,000 acres of sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles and spires set in the largest protected mixed grass prairie in the USA. The ages old paleontological formation boasts the world's richest oligocene epoch fossil beds dating back 25 to 35 million years. An incredible array of formations with red, pink and white/grey stripes visible in the landscape.
